Which documents should I have to hand?
What can help me further?
For a successful asylum process it is very important that you adhere to the requirements of the authorities. So you should take all appointments and pay particular attention to the respect of deadlines. Negligence in dealing with authorities, may in the worst case result in a rejection of your asylum application. All instructions concerning your asylum procedure will be sent as a printed letter to the address where you are registered. Please ask for it if you haven’t received any documents in a long time. Since the official language of Germany is German, the letters are usually written in this language. You must ensure yourself that you understand these letters. Please ask for a translator in this regard at the appropriate place.
You should be able to present the following documents as required
• Passport
• birth certificate
• Marriage certificate (if applicable)
• information about the course of your journey (for example tickets, purchase receipts)
If you are asked to leave some documents behind please ask the official for a copy.
It is also advantageous if you have the following additional documents with you:
• Graduation certificate
• professional or university degree
• proof of your previous work
• Documents about health Problems
• visa, if you have one
• Receipts for any relatives in Germany or the EU
• Receipts that proof the reason of your flight
